Ozzie, our African Grey parrot, likes many things. Actually, he loves many things. Above all, though, he loves bathrooms, and he loves to dance.

A free fall that is faster than the speed of sound

We can now say a human being has broken the sound barrier without being in any sort of jet. And it was all captured on video, thanks to GoPro mobile cameras. It was 67 years ago that man first broke the sound barrier, when aviator Chuck Yeager was propelled in a rocket plane, reaching the speed of sound. In 1947, Yeager was flown up 25,000 feet.

The lions needed to be fed and we had some extra giraffes... Zoo's explanation for killing young giraffe

Danish children among those watching the dissection of a giraffe

In spite of petitions, protects, begs, pleas, cash offers, and "adoption offers", the Copenhagen, Denmark Zoo last week killed a healthy, young giraffe. Why? The basic explanation from zoo officials: We had some extra giraffes, and the lions needed to be fed.

Poor Marius. She had a chance... plenty of them... but those in charge of her decided she was not going to get any of these chances. And so offers from other zoos, enclosing a zoo in neighboring Sweden, were rejected. A cash offer of over a half-million bucks to save the giraffe was rejected.

So tall, she has to duck the entire time she is in the restaurant

Perdy decided to visit a restaurant the other day. Perdy went in, and checked things out for a bit. She didn't sit down and eat. There really wasn't a chair for her. Not that there wasn't an empty chair... there were only a few chairs taken, most of them by people relaxing and surfing the Internet while sipping on latte. But there wasn't a chair she could fit in. She is rather tall. And a bit misshaped for a chair. But that was okay. She didn't want to stay.

Duck lips... how adorable for a boy and his dad
So the pint size pop "star" Justin Bieber has during the last two months been accused of egging his neighbor's mansion to the tune of causing $20,000 in damage... drag racing in a Miami neighborhood while under the influence of pot, pills and at least some booze... striking a limo driver in the back of the head multiple times because the driver refused to continue turning the car's music up per Beiber's orders... and "hot boxing" a private jet he chartered from Canada to New Jersey.

Stray dogs adapt to living on streets of Moscow

Malchik, Russian stray dog
Thousands of stray dogs... as many as 35,000 to be specific... are teaching scientists and sociologists plenty about animal adaptation to the environments in which they live. In the capital city of Russia, stray dogs ride subways below Moscow's streets and neighborhoods... they intermingle with humans... they form groups each with their own hierarchies and then form hierarchies and states of order between these groups. They are adapting to the world they were born in. To the absolute best of their abilities, and even beyond what we as humans may think their abilities could be.

Beer headed to an ice shack!
It was a good thing while it lasted... but no more air deliveries of beer for ice fishermen in Minnesota. The Federal Aviation Administration pulled the plug on beer deliveries via quadcopter "drones" after a brewery posted an advertisement for the service on YouTube.
